wasn't always a fan of yellow gold jewelry. In fact, the thought of yellow gold used to disgust me. I was in love with silver, white gold and of course platinum (I'm still holding out on a platinum engagement ring). I'm not sure what it was about yellow gold that was so unappealing. But then one day in my later adult life, I finally tried yellow gold.
And I fell for it. It all happened so quickly. But I wasn't ready to dive deep into wearing yellow gold. I wanted to start off simple. While browsing through Instagram one morning, I saw an image from Grece Ghanem draped in pearls (my fave) and a simple gold chain. I think the large black frames is what really did it for me. But in any case, I just HAD to have that look. I was dying to try it.
As most of you may already know, the Instagram algorithm gawds are usually in my favor. After a week or two of looking for a quality gold chair necklace, an ad for Brooks Brothers came across my timeline. Brooks Brothers was having a flash sale and the shopper in me couldn't resist taking a look. I was hoping to find a necklace on their website. I've been wearing the same pearl earrings from Brooks Brothers for years and to this date they're still holding up well. I had hoped that maybe I'd find a gold chain necklace. Lucky me - I did!
Although I would have preferred a single chain, the two-strand design of the Brooks Brother's necklace added an extra layer of fabulous! Also, it's still on sale in case you're interested.
Since I already had a pearl necklace and large black frames to complete the look, I wanted to step outside my comfort zone and find something else in gold to pair with the necklace so that I'd have some versatility in styling. I wanted an investment piece - something I could hold onto for years. I browsed a few of my favorite designer websites and landed on these gorgeous Essential V stud earrings from Louis Vuitton.
Back when I worked at Saks in the Fifth Avenue Club, we had a client who was shopping for her neice. She and her niece were very close - so close that I envied their relationship. It was beautiful. In any case, I was tasked to escort her downstairs to the Louis Vuitton boutique to find a gift for her niece. I didn't mind because this woman was beyond lovely and honestly one of the nicest wealthy women I had ever met. I often find myself to this day still telling my boyfriend that I aspire to have her personality when I'm finally rich haha. Anyway, I hadn't seen much of what was new at Louis Vuitton. My meager pockets couldn't afford anything in the boutique and I wasn't much a fan of their jewelry. That was until I saw this V collection. I believe the client ended up going with a pair of V studs that dangled. What I do remember was that I was enamored by the thickness of the V. It was something about the way the V was designed that caught my attention. I told myself that if I ever had the money to purchase jewelry from that collection, I'd do it.
Well, that day finally came. They're the perfect pair of studs to dress up or down. Not to mention, I love the high-low mix that I have going on with the earrings and the necklace.
